My music team for this quarter met up for the first time tonight. It definitely wasn’t our first time playing together for church service, but it was our first music practise for the year.
With K at the helm leading the team, G and F on vocals, S on the drums and I at the keyboards, the chemistry and camaraderie in the team was unmistakeable. It was such a joy working with them as each person brought with them their cocktail of style, persona and musical interpretation. Perhaps the most beautiful part was how God used each musician, so different and unique in their own right, to weave such a stunning musical tapestry tonight.
The songs that we will be singing on Sunday, which are also the very ones that we practised tonight, were very meaningful to me. Apart from the song Complete, which had been put on repeat on my iTunes playlist for the past two weeks, Blessed Assurance and I Worship You, Almighty God also spoke to my heart.
Blessed Assurance
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
Oh what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Saviour, all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Saviour, all the day long.Visions of rapture now burst on my sight.
Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Angels descending, bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Saviour am happy and blest;
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
I Worship You, Almighty God
I come into Your courts with praise, I bow before Your throne
Your presence gives me peace within, and joy I’ve never known
So I give to You my heart and soul
May it bring You pleasure, Lord
There’s no higher call than to worship You
For You alone are GodI worship You, Almighty God
There is none like You
I worship You, O Prince of peace
That is what I long to do
I give You praise
For You are my righteousness
I worship You, Almighty God
There is none like You
The love of God and His greatness continues to bowl me over and never fails to amaze the receiver. It is simply too profound a thought for the human mind to comprehend, too precious a gift to receive, but He gave it anyway.

Ominous skies and unrelentless rain make the weather ill and the soul depressed – no wonder the Englishmen have suicidal tendencies. Despite the week-long respite we had from the merciless skies, the rain that came down upon us today has washed away all recollections of cheeriness and the week’s worth of sunshine no longer seems sufficient. Looking up into the skies today, I could only recall the week-long torture of flash floods, landslides and lack of outdoorsy activity; I forgot the feeling of Saturday’s sun beating down on my apples of my round cheeks.
It makes me wonder how and why the weather has such a profound effect on our lives, but since it’s dinnertime now I shall go and pacify my g-rumbling stomach and forget about the weather.
