Rings? Check. Suit? Check.

The wedding nazis were out in full force tonight and oh how I love the feeling of striking things off the list. Very cathartic indeed.

And you wouldn’t believe how dapper my husband-to-be looks in the EZ suit. My polo-and-jeans boy in a Zegna – now that’s droolworthy.

Wedding Nazi, out!

The city has been shrouded in a thick cloud of haze due to the past week’s bushfires. The burnt smell that hangs in the air is uncannily familiar, reminiscent of the 1990-something forest fires in Indonesia. Everyday I read about news of new fires starting, each one nearer to the city centre than the last, and I wonder aloud what on earth is going on. This morning’s fire news came from Malvern.

There’s no sign of rain, and so the haze looks set to linger for a while more. I just pray that the people are safe.

Gratitude – Nichole Nordeman

Send some rain, would You send some rain?
‘Cause the earth is dry and needs to drink again
And the sun is high and we are sinking in the shade
Would You send a cloud, thunder long and loud?
Let the sky grow black and send some mercy down
Surely You can see that we are thirsty and afraid
But maybe not, not today
Maybe You’ll provide in other ways
And if that’s the case . . .

(Chorus)

We’ll give thanks to You
With gratitude
For lessons learned in how to thirst for You
How to bless the very sun that warms our face
If You never send us rain

It’s really comforting to know that my great big God loves me so much He’d even care about the little, inane details of my life, like my wedding shoes.

After reeling over my little wedding-shoe victory, I’m still in awe of the fact that He makes the impossible possible.
